Santa with a Bag - 1907

I am starting to be worried about the random selection of today's clip art gifted to the future. Why so many creepy santas? Maybe my theory was right. They designed santa creepy a long time ago? (This is 1907 from the Salt Lake Herald newspaper) Or maybe that's santa's secret: he is a creepy old man. That still doesn't explain how I ended up preserving so many santa images for the world this evening. (I had to simplify the design a bit to get it onto this site, the original design was too detailed.)
