live text needs to be converted to outlines. there are odd artifacts showing in Firefox like some shadow effect but this is not showing in Inkscape. http://openclipart.org/wiki/Guidelines Also if one takes this into Inkscape and deletes the extra Adobe Illustrator data the file size goes from 285k to 40k. I think you need to expand appearance in illustrator before saving as SVG. Then try saving it again to make it smaller
