[edit] How to use SVGI am new to SVG and not sure what to do with an SVG file. I have a mac and tried to open the file in Illustrator but it appears to be a non-scaleable bitmap image in Illustrator and not a scaleable vector image. What am I missing? I guess I want to know how I can use the SVG images in openclipart using standard Adobe CS2 software. thx. doug [edit] Installing with OpenOfficeI'm having difficulty using Open Clipart with OpenOffice 2.0.4. I've downloaded the full openclipart-0.18-full.tar.gz, and extracted the contents to my home directory ~/openclipart-0.18-full. I then copied the ~/openclipart-0.18-full/clipart subdirs to my /opt/openoffice.org2.0/share/gallery dir, but nothing shows up in the OOo Gallery. I then tried to copy the clipart subdirs to my home ~/.openoffice.org2/user/gallery dir, but still nothing in the Gallery. I tried the instructions in the ~/openclipart-0.18-full/INSTALL file, but I can't get past the very first "make install" command: /home/bruce/openclipart-0.18-full >su Password: /home/bruce/openclipart-0.18-full >make install /bin/install -c -m 755 -d /usr/local/share/clipart/openclipart make: /bin/install: Command not found make: *** [install] Error 127 /home/bruce/openclipart-0.18-full > I'm new to OOo and somewhat new to Linux, so hopefully I'm just missing something that's obvious to someone else. Any help will be appreciated. I'm running Mandriva Linux 2007. -- Bruce
[edit] New website for ClipartSorry but I gonna continue on wikipedia now. The new website is harder for people witch don't have english as native language. We just need to upload and browse clipart. Now it really not easy. I prefer to upload now on Wikipedia. --Patricia.fidi 16:59, 18 Sep 2006 (PDT)
[edit] New CSSThe new CSS that is being implemented looks really good! Keep up the good work Theresa! What other ideas do you have for improving the style?
[edit] Copyright issueI'm living in Austria and have a huge problem with Public Domain. It looks like it's against law to publish something under Public Domain. There is a possibility, but for this I must be dead for at least ten years. Not really an option. In Germany there is a similar problem.
[edit] Remove 1 clipartCould you remove the biggest clipart calling "delaware flag" of about 226ko. I've sent another one calling "us-delaware-flag". Thx --Patricia.fidi 15:59, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT) [edit] Clipart usageHi there. I would like to know if and how can the clipart in this site be used in commercial software. Thanks, Malafaya 02:59, 4 Aug 2006 (PDT)
[edit] SVG in gallery's OpenOfficeHi there, thank you for an excellent piece of software. I just want to confirm something. For me to use the images of Open Clipart Library, I have to install the filter (which consists of three files). I then must OPEN the graphic file in Write which will open Draw and then Copy and Paste it in Draw? How can I get these images to show by default in my Gallery? Regards, Deon
[edit] Open Content DiscussionOk, let me start with this discussion! I'm surprised that I'm somehow first here. Ok, it's better to be the first than no one :) I'am happy that we have great place like this on internet, where we can share useful contents, but first I wish to have wider options for uploading and downloading vector graphics. I don't understand why this have to be limited on SVG and WMF(?!) vector graphics only. Why not to collect here also vector formats like .PS, .DXF, .EPS, .VML, .VRML and .BLEND, .DEM, .AI, .CDR, .DRW, .FH10, etc...? I understand that are some formats limited on one application only, but I believe that if there will be interest to convert some files into different formats people will do it. I don't see any problems with law here... Second, it looks like that you have problems with moving files into right categories. Why don't you leave us to do this time consumig job? With respect, --Igor
[edit] Smaller PackageI wish that the openclipart library was available in smaller packages, divided by categories.
[edit] Bounty systemI'd like to see a bounty system, where sponsors could donate money either to the project in general or to a specific image request. General money donated to the project could be used by the project managers to create bounties. Big sponsors like the open office backers could come along and donate large sums of money and thus greatly increase the ability of artists to contribute to the project. The bountys wouldn't be released until the sponsors are satisfied with the quality of the work. [edit] FolksonomyWhy can't we use Folksonomy the way that flickr and the Stock Exchange do? It would help searches work a lot better. --Terrible Tim 08:59, 20 Mar 2006 (PST) [edit] How to download the current version?Normally, that'd be the classic n00b question, "how do I download the current version?" Unfortunately, it looks like the bits and pieces to download the complete collection are rather scattered:
I was looking for a simple way to get everything in http://openclipart.org/clipart http://openclipart.org/incoming and http://openclipart.org/cchost/people without downloading everything except the ver 0.18 /clipart (2005) file-by-file. I'd created an archive (zip/bz2) of everything that's missing from the main (Oct'05) openclipart download area. As .svg-only, it runs a little over 100Mb compressed, in addition to the 90Mb+ of the original openclipart-0.18 SVG packages. Nonetheless, thousands of images remain unsorted. There is a need for a proper 0.20 release. This isn't it, but is a stopgap measure. --Carlb 11:15, 5 February 2007 (PST) |
- Help us Migrate to ccHost... check here for more detailed tasks
Help us describe how to use clip art with different applications. The majority of the sections have been created as stubs, but we need people to fill these out. These stubs are listed on the Main Page
- Check the bugzilla item for this task as well
Once this mockup exists, someone with some PHP know-how could add the code and set up the database table(s) to support it.
- The page MediaWiki:Monobook.css needs to be further modified so that the wiki looks more like http://openclipart.org/cchost/media/view/media/home.
- Translation of the wiki - French is well under way, Deutsch has just begun, and all the others have yet to be started.
