Giraffes are clever animals...

... because they do not like to fight (although they can, if they must) and often have babies in a herd. So during late morning, when the heat rises and the grazing gets slow and lazy, they start looking around, for a piece of landscape that matches their personal pattern, or at least matches the pattern-average of the herd as well as possible. Then they will spend their noon-time sieste, standing and lightly dozing, knowing that they have blended in nicely...
