Mon, 22 Jan 2018 02:01:26 -0400AdamStanislavThe function/expression/formula of the cubic Bézier curve used extensively in vector graphics, including SVG graphics used here. It expresses the same cubic curves as those written in the formula in the graphic this is a remix of, but it expresses them as a function of ?time? (hence the use of f(t) rather than f(x) here). The time is not measured in seconds or any other units, as it is simply telling a browser or other software what order to turn on individual pixels to display the vector graphic on a raster device.
It moves from the point P[0] to the point P[3], while using P[1] and P[2] as control points. It only does so for the values of t in the [0,1] set, i.e., for 0 https://openclipart.org/detail/294850/cubic-bezier-equationhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/publicdomain/Cubic Polynomial

Sun, 21 Jan 2018 14:40:28 -0400j4p4nThe original clipart I think depicted various people of Argentina. It was a great image, but I thought some various people would be useful isolated on their on. So I made a serious of these people separated from the main image for people who want to use them without the others! (Slight changes were made to colours to make them work without a blue background.)https://openclipart.org/detail/294788/maths-teacherhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/publicdomain/Cubic Curve Icon

Sat, 30 Dec 2017 21:12:55 -0400AdamStanislavGottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz (1646 - 1716), a.k.a. Leibniz, was a 17th/18th Century German mathematician and philosopher, one of the inventors of calculus (the other was Newton; see https://www.maths.tcd.ie/pub/HistMath/People/Leibniz/RouseBall/RB_Leibnitz.html for an interesting article on that).
He also had an influence on psychology. That is because Aristotle (and Thomas Aquinas, etc) claimed there was nothing in the mind that was not first in the senses. Leibnitz added to it, ?except for the mind itself?.
This SVG is made from the scan of an engraving by Pierre Savart (1737?1780). Sun, 02 Apr 2017 11:17:17 -0400paulgrimshawProving Pythagoras theorem by splitting the triangle into two smaller triangles, X & Y. All triangles are similar, and therefore their areas are proportional to the squares of their hypotenuse, i.e.: area = k times hypotenuse^2 for a fixed k across all the triangles. As the hypotenuse of the triangles are a, b and c, and the area of the large triangle is the sum of the areas of the smaller triangles, we get k.c^2 = k.a^2 + k.b^2, so c^2 = a^2 + b^2.https://openclipart.org/detail/276885/pythagoras-proofhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/publicdomain/calculator refixed
