From the long running comic stage play "Our Boys" (1875) by Henry James Byron (died 1884). Violet is a sweet down-to-earth heiress who has been promised to Talbot, the son of Sir Geoffrey Champneys. Unfortunately, Talbot has other ideas about her good-looking but penniless cousin Mary. A comedy about the well wishes of parents for their children. The character of Perkyn Middlewick shows a class consciousness ahead of its time.
