Fictional character Carrie McCobb appears as "Ned McCobb's Daughter" (1926) by Sidney Coe Howard (died 1939). Carrie owns a diner on a riverbank. Her father pilots an automobile ferry, on a stretch of water where money can be made, by unscrupulous traffic. A brilliant comic idyll of life in a back-water.
