Kakigori - Shaved Ice

One of the many symbols of summer here in Japan: Kakigori. It's basically what I guess is called shaved ice. Ice flakes with syrup flavoring on it. A rather simple summer snack I guess but it's great during a hot day! The Chinese character on this cup (and many cups you get at a festival or convenience store) says 'ice' and it is a bit shredded on purpose.
