the two kanjis
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
the first one is "kowai" which means "scary"
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
another one is "kawaii" which means "cute"
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
each of the two has a similar pronunciation and a reverse meaning
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I've ever heard a foreign visitor(male) was saying "kowai" towards a japanese young girl on TV. I guess he meant to say "kawaii"
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The word "kowai" is really "kowai", isn't it.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
you can see the wiktionary about "kowai" here:
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E6%80%96
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
speaking about "kawaii",
people more often use "hiragana" than "kanji".
