Sci Fi Scanner Device

They say that the flip-phone was designed based on the tricorder design featured in TV's Trek. With that in mind, I tried to design a quick sci-fi scanner device like that from the basic flip-phone design. Scanning for lifeforms on a planet in the nearest star system!
