Throwing Out Royals

I suppose most countries "threw out" their royalty a 100 years or so. But lose one master, gain 10 more. These days we are even more indebted to so many other mechanisms of society, we can't really say we are any more free. (And we still have an emperor over in this part of the world, although he doesn't really do much.)
