A young woman reading a book. Perhaps she's reading the very book this image came from, "Ballads and Songs" by William Makepeace Thackeray, illustrated by H. M. Brock, 1896. Doubtful, as her dress dates from several decades earlier. Maybe she can only afford to wear her mum's hand-me-downs because she spends all her money on books.
