I'm not sure if the original 1906 newspaper was trying to make a Japanese style "fukuwarai" game when they made a contest to construct this boy's face. But it works perfectly for that! (Usually played around lunar new year, it's a traditional game. Just print it out. Cut the face in a square and then cut out the individual pieces of the face that are on the right. Then blindfold the face-maker and see if they can assemble the face without looking! A bit like a complicated version of "pin the tail on the donkey" or something.
