Matsuo Basho

Matsuo Bashō is a famous old Japanese poet. He wrote some amazing short haiku poems, some of the stuff that just hits you strong and grips your heart. He also had a fascinating life. If you don't know about him, you owe yourself some time reading up about him and reading some of his poems. (Of course the original language is best, but that might take you a looooong time to study just for that, so translated works too I guess!)
