1980s Cellphone

So how long until people start using these to be cool like how people have started using record players again? Is it possible to get one up and running on modern networks? Can one be retrofitted to house a smartphone in a bigass case like this? If I used modern battery technology in a case like that, would I have a week of charge? I have been trying to fill in the gaps in regards to old but not too old technology as clipart; this one joins the VCR and all that in the recent but dead technology pile here on Openclipart. This looks like the Dynatac old school style.
