Vivien T. Thomas

Vivien Thomas was a ground breaking, and yet at the time ignored, pioneer in heart surgery. He was an American laboratory supervisor in an experimental animal laboratory that developed techniques for life-saving surgery on human children with heart conditions in the 1940s. When the technique was perfected he taught it to a white doctor, who took credit for the discovery and never even mentioned him in the papers published on the technique. There are no public domain photos I could find of this great man, so I doodled my own clipart image based on looking at a few photos. If anyone is a better freehand artist than me, feel free to draw something up too!
