Celtic Knot - Sturrock #55 - Offset 19

by HenryM - uploaded on September 4, 2021, 9:21 am

I have a system which uses a macros in a CAD system to draw Celtic Knots. The process is described by Sturrock (see reference below) and consists of:

1. drawing a centreline of the path

2. adding offsets to the path - these can have different values either side of the path and for paths when there is more of them

3. cleaning up the offsets to get the over/under structure

4. finding the closed shapes in the design

5. writing out the annotated closed shapes to an svg file that can be used in applications such as Inkscape

The references are

Celtic Knotwork Handbook (Sturrock K) and Celtic Spirals Handbook (Sturrock S) – both by Sheila Sturrock and published around the turn of the 21st Century

This is number 55
