US Army / US Air Force collar and coat insignia for Major (O-4)

This gold oak leaf is the US Army / US Air Force collar and coat insignia for a commissioned officer holding the rank of Major (paygrade O-4). It is significantly different from the collar/coat insignia of a Major in the US Marine Corps or a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy in that it simulates bullion embroidery, while the Navy/Marine Corps insignia has the veins on the leaf but is otherwise smooth.
