Collar and coat insignia of a US Navy/US Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander or a US Marine Corps Major (O-4)

This gold oak leaf is collar and coat insignia for a commissioned officer holding the US Navy or US Coast Guard rank of Lieutenant Commander or the US Marine Corps rank of Major (paygrade O-4). It is significantly different from the collar/coat insignia of a Major in the US Army or US Air Force in that it has veins on the leaf but is otherwise smooth, while the Army/Air Force insignia simulates bullion embroidery.
