you might think inkscape can do a good job with flowers - and you are sometimes right! scaling, cropping, and using greyscale can make sharp images. simplifying takes a while but sometimes keeps the image ok in a much smaller size. i colorized one of the white flowers, (a night blooming cereus i was told by the person who took the images and grew the plant), o/w its all inkscape... archive.org/details/PhloraI
