Cheshire Cat

so another way to describe what a good artist does is to 'be the cheshire cat' - say things that people need to hear even though they may not want to hear it... (at least thats the way i remember alice in wonderland, last read decades ago :-) also, cats go where they want regardless of what anyone tells them. and since im off the hook for tracing laura marling, ill use this as her portrait and add another bit that 'all my heroes' share - i think they all 'serve the art'. 'i do well to serve nouel' nouel. 'it is my right to wander; i might choose to stay' hope we meet again.

(of course david bowie, bob marley, and a bunch of other 'heroes' are already on OCA. david bowie has a song about heroes too :-)

jerry garcia should have been mentioned at the start because my favorite grateful dead song is 'china cat sunflower' (just figured out its about the cheshire cat!) ...and 'ripple', which the red hot chili peppers covered on 'deadicated' and i named a sailboat for... ('still water' and sailboats dont go together tho...) and all their music was 'public domain' from the start:
