Japan War Flag

This is a bit controversial of a depiction in our contemporary time perhaps but this was a fascinating political cartoon from 1904, depicting Japan in the Russo-Japan war. I think the skeleton was suppose to be symbolic of like the grim reaper or something because the article was talking about how Japan was strongly winning.
