Boy Playing Tiny Piano Notes Comic Traced

by qubodup - uploaded on August 4, 2025, 5:38 pm

Cartoon boy or small man playing a tiny toy piano with comic style notes jumping into the air.

Isolated character from original drawing by C.Charles from Smiles - A Magazine Gone Mad issue 39 (Apr 1950). Page 86. Published by Hardie-Kelly. Archived by Comic Book Plus at https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=79199 Original caption: "Before he'd finished playing 'Home Sweet Home' for our guests yesterday they were all on their way there!"

Traced by qubodup using Illustrator, with some cleanup in Inkscape 1.4.2, in particular the notes and piano, adding detail not present in the original. Minified in SVGOMG https://jakearchibald.github.io/svgomg/ with "Merge paths" disabled.

Strangely, if I'm not mistaken, the piano is built incorrectly, a kind of mistake one would expect from art-ificially gen-erated pieces nowadays in 2025 (sorry for the weird spell-ing, trying to avoicd the A-word since this is not at all an example of that).

Motivated by the tracing work of liftarn, j4p4n, GDJ, teck5 and surely others I'm not finding right now.
